Heroes step up in times of adversity
It is easy to be a non-conformist when nothing is at stake. It is times of cruelty, cowardice, and corruption, that the true heroes stand out.
I feel that this is a critical moment for us.
It is in times of adversity and challenge that you see people’s character.
Consider this.
You are the best. The number one in your field. You are a world beater.
You have trained your whole life. You exercise and torture your body at ridiculous levels on a daily basis for years and years.
You engage professionals to manage your diet, your mood, your energy levels, your psychological level.
You give up so much. And yet you give so much.
You entertain millions of people with your performance. You smile and act graciously when you lose. You speak humbly and gratefully when you win.
You rip your shirt off every now and then, and prance around looking like a lean Incredible Hulk.
And then it stops.
A fat, overweight, corrupt public servant - whose big achievement is choosing between a hamburger or a souvlaki for lunch - tells you that you cannot play.
You cannot do what you have been trained for.
Why?
Because you need to inject yourself with poison. A compliance test. A way to demonstrate absolute obedience to the will of others.
What do you do?
I know a lot of people who would say it’s an easy decision. Just get jabbed, and then do your job.
It is only those mediocre, underachievers who support this mentality.
A media report a couple of days ago suggested that people were angry with him, and probably felt like boo-ing him. Yes, boo-ing him.
I tell you what.
Novak Djokovic is a legend. He is a hero.
A man with courage. Mental fortitude. Strength.
Thank goodness for his parents. They raised him right.
Who know Novak’s physical health?
He does. As well as the people he employs to keep him in shape.
He has more of a vested interest and investment in maintaining his physical health than his detractors.
It is for this reason, he says no.
He says no to tyranny, conformity, and bullying.
Consider the significance. He is the world number one tennis player! He gives up this up for a higher principle.
He says no. I won’t give up my rights. I won’t be bullied. No matter what.
Forgot tennis.
What an example of integrity.
He has put these hypocrites and liars to shame.
“The World on a String.
Doesn’t mean a thing.
It’s only real.
In the way
That I feel
From day to day”.
If only the rest of us could emulate Novak.
The world would be a much, much better place.
On behalf of freedom loving, free thinkers everywhere, thank you Novak Djokovic.
They may not see your sacrifice and tremendous courage.
I do. We do.

I do
